With Gov. Kemp taking baby steps toward opening our state again, I am scheduling families for Front Steps photos again! Keep reading!
** APRIL 9, 2020 UPDATE
The Front Steps photos are temporarily *paused* since Gov. Kemp issued the Shelter-In-Place Order last week. It's only a pause though, NOT a cancellation!
Even though these photo sessions had social distancing and we stayed outside, I want to honor the intent of the Governor's order and do my part to #FlattenTheCurve. I will keep a "wait list" of EVERYONE who signs-up and as soon as the Order is lifted or modified, I will start scheduling sessions again. It might be May or June but don't give up! I want to take all your photos as a way to help non-profits in our area that will be needing funding for a long time to help with COVID-19 relief efforts and feeding our neighbors. See the eight local groups below that were chosen for this project. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!
It feels like the world has stopped, doesn’t it?
I love capturing images of families in times of happiness but that is a harder emotion to find with all that's happening in today's world. I can’t be up close and personal to photograph families and births as I usually do but it is still important that we document our families at this crazy time in our lives.
So, I am jumping on the bandwagon with dozens of other photographers around the country to bring a little happiness to our town through The Front Steps Project. Started by Cara Soulia Photography (@carasoulia) in Needham, MA, local photographers donate their time to give 5-minute family portrait sessions to area residents in exchange for a donation to a local non-profit charity helping the community.
#TheFrontStepsProjectAugustaGA is a way to highlight the faces of our neighbors during a time when we might not see each other at the grocery store, coffee shop, or gym. These images will mark this time of our lives but the BIGGER mission of the project is that participating will financially help the groups that help our community.
I am offering to stop by your house to take a QUICK photo or two of your family OUTSIDE on the front steps of your home. There will be no hugs or handshakes from me as I will stay 8-feet away. Social distancing!! No front steps? The yard will work great!
This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Want to stay in your pajamas and slippers? Sounds good to me. Kids in mismatched clothes but you’re thrilled they got dressed? Fantastic!! Wearing your bike gear because you’re headed off to ride a trail in the nice weather? Love it! Let your family be themselves!!
Each family will receive 1 or 2 digital files from your session. In exchange, families are asked to make a $50 minimum donation to one of the LOCAL non-profits listed below after I have your session scheduled.
Please be flexible in your availability as I will try to group session locations close to each other to get as many families photographed as I can. SHARE this page, and go to my FB page and share the graphic there to help me reach more families.
I will be posting these images on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM with the hashtag #TheFrontStepsProjectAugustaGA. I'd love for you to follow me in both places, share the posts, and tag your family members.
Please use the links below to make your donation to charity AFTER your session.
Charities for #TheFrontStepsProjectAugustaGA are helping with food, clothing, and medical needs, for both PEOPLE and PETS, in our community.
*Sadly, covid-19 is causing the pet population at the shelters to rise due to owners not being able to financially care for their pets so animal rescue groups are needing assistance too.
